Romance / Re: When We Meet Again...💕
Last post by NKP250522 - Feb 18, 2026, 07:43 PMChapter 2 – The Things We Didn't Say
They stood there longer than necessary.
Two people who once knew everything about each other... now unsure how to begin.
"Are you... okay?" Meera asked softly.
Aarav almost laughed. That was such a her question. Not "How have you been?" Not "Why did you leave?" Just Are you okay?
"I'm fine," he replied.
It was a lie.
She nodded like she understood. Maybe she did. She always could read him too well.
"Still drinking black coffee?" she asked, glancing at the counter.
"Yeah."
"You never liked sugar."
"You always added some anyway."
For a second, they both smiled.
And then the silence returned.
Not awkward.
Just heavy.
Five years ago, they didn't break up because they stopped loving each other.
They broke up because they were scared.
Scared of distance.
Scared of failing.
Scared that love alone wouldn't be enough.
Back then, Aarav chose ambition.
Meera chose stability.
Neither chose each other.
"I didn't think I'd see you again," Meera said quietly.
"I thought about it," Aarav admitted. "Many times."
Her fingers tightened around her cup.
"So did I."
There it was.
The truth.
Still there. Still alive.
But fear sat between them like an invisible wall.
What if it hurts again?
What if they fall again?
What if they lose each other again?
"I should go," Meera whispered suddenly.
Aarav's heart dropped — just like it did five years ago.
But this time, he didn't want to let silence win.
"Meera."
She stopped.
"I don't know what this is," he said carefully. "But I know I never stopped caring."
Her eyes shimmered, but she looked away.
"I never stopped either," she confessed. "That's what scares me."
Because loving someone once and losing them hurts.
But loving them again... knowing you might lose them twice?
That's terrifying.
They stood there, both aware of one simple truth:
The love never left.
Only the courage did.
