The Taste of a Forbidden Fruit

Sometimes, the forbidden fruit isn't tempting because it is sweeter. It becomes tempting because someone feels unseen, unheard, or neglected at home.
Infidelity and extra-marital affairs are often described simply as a search for excitement or desire. But sometimes, behind that choice lies a person who has been emotionally starved for a long time—craving attention, affection, appreciation, or simply the feeling of being wanted again.
Yet the taste of something forbidden comes with consequences. Neglect may explain the loneliness, but it doesn't erase responsibility for the choices that follow. A neglected marriage can create vulnerability, but an affair can create wounds far deeper than the emptiness that existed before it.
Perhaps the real tragedy isn't the forbidden fruit itself, but a relationship where two people stopped noticing that one of them was starving.
Sometimes, what a marriage needs isn't another person—it needs two people to finally notice each other again.
